Annie Youngs was born and raised in the suburbs of Detroit, Michigan. Her parents saw her spark for performing as early as she could hum a tune so they placed her in a small, richly diverse public school district in Auburn Hills known for its art programs. Her spark grew and she never stopped singing. She would also later enroll in a local performing arts studio where she would study dance, voice and acting.
Her other early inspirations came from the time she spent singing in the Detroit Opera House with the Michigan Opera Theatre Children’s Chorus. She sang in the children’s chorus for MOT productions such as Pagliacci, Carmina Burana, and Turandot. Musical Theatre was her first love, but she knew, after these experiences, that continuing training in classical voice was also part of her dream.
Gratefully, she found a place where she could study both! Annie graduated with a BM in both Music Theatre and Vocal Performance from Oklahoma City University. Her OCU credits include Woman 1 in Songs for a New World, Brooke Wyndham in Legally Blonde, and Mama Noah u/s In Children of Eden.
Annie now resides in Manhattan, where she can be found adventuring on her yellow roller skates! In addition to performing, Annie has always been passionate about disability advocacy, partaking in programs such as Best Buddies, LINKS, and Bridge Buddies throughout all phases of her education. She also has plentiful experience working with and empowering the youngest generation. In her free time, she enjoys cooking and creating standup bits with her boyfriend, Charlie Turner, eating Chili's chips and salsa, and talking for hours about the latest season of Survivor.
